OAK PARK NOW PRESENTS: SUPERINTENDENT DR. TONY KNIGHT, OAK PARK UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Oak Park Now volunteer editor, Derek Ross, highlights Superintendent Dr.Tony Knight of the Oak Park Unified School District (O.P.U.S.D).
O.P.U.S.D. is a remarkable place. While many districts throughout the state struggle with getting their students to pass the state high school exit exam, 99% of 10th grade students have already passed it on the first try. O.P.U.S.D. student performance levels are the highest in Ventura County of any K-12 school district.
The reason for the O.P.U.S.D. success is due to the fact that as an organization they have made a commitment to Oak Park students to meet their academic needs every day and to provide an appropriate level of learning through challenge, depth, complexity, and novelty. O.P.U.S.D. teachers' high degree of attention to providing students with an engaging, differentiated, and meaningful curriculum is at the core of their vision.
O.P.U.S.D. values their teachers, administrators, and support staff, understanding that maintaining high morale and attending to their professional development translates into a positive learning enviornment for Oak Park students. They ensure that the teacher in front of your child's class is one of the best, and that he/she receives the best professional development available on a regular basis.
In this video presentation, Superintendent Dr. Tony Knight of the Oak Park Unified School District discusses the quality of education provided within our district and takes viewers to the Oak Hills Elementary School campus, located at 1010 North Kanan Road, where Dr. Knight used to be principal.
Oak Park Now personally thanks everyone involved with the O.P.U.S.D. for their relentless dedication to educating our children.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
The Ventura County Department of Transportation has conducted a study and provided Oak Park Now with maps of all campuses and the safest routes for students to walk to and from school. We encourage students to walk to school to safely. Elementary children should never walk without an adult and secondary students should never walk alone. Walking to school provides so many benefits to health, for the environment, and for our traffic situation.
